Supporting the troops means supporting their families too. Recently the Rossmoor Woman's Club donated 160 backpacks and a number of Target gift cards to children of local military personnel, as it has done annually since 2008. Club members also helped stuff the packs with donated school supplies from businesses including Staples and Home Depot. The loaded packs will be distributed to families through the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base.

Helping with the pack delivery were (in the first photo, from left)

RWC member Karen Swensen, who is also a longtime base volunteer; members Tillie Mead and Nina Millar; CalGuard Family Specialist Cara Borm; and RWC members Bev Rigney and Kathy Loch.

Helping stuff the packs were RWC members Sue Pagett, Sue Goldberg, Karen Swenson, National Guard Armory Inglewood Specialist Licenia Cruz and CalGuard Family Assistant Specialist JFTB Cara Borm.

This is just one of many things the Rossmoor Woman's Club does to serve an area encompassing Northwest Orange County and Long Beach We welcome new members...and you don't have to live in Rossmoor!
