Congrats, Los Alamitos High School Students of the Month!

The Rossmoor Woman's Club is honoring two Los Alamitos High School students as Students of the Month for August and September. Both Ashley Agatep (August) and Alexa Blankenstein (September) are top students in advanced placement classes and both are very active in the school's acclaimed Show Choir program.

Ashley, top photo, has volunteered with the BRAIN Institute (Brain Rehabilitation and Injury Network) in Cypress, working alongside survivors of brain injury and speech pathologists who assist survivors in regaining speech, life and cognitive skills. Habitat restoration and environmentalism are among her major interests. Most weeks find her working with the Bolsa Chica Land Trust, restoring wildlife habitats, identifying and fighting against invasive species, and facilitating plant growth.

Alexa is serving as student representative to the Los Alamitos Education Foundation this year, and she plans to embark on a medical career in pediatric oncology. She is active in the National Charity League and is 12-year member of the Girl Scouts of America, where she has earned both her Bronze and Silver Awards.
