RWC Rings in School Year

The Rossmoor Woman’s Club recently donated 120 school backpacks to the children of military personnel assigned to the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Base. The gifts were distributed to students in kindergarten through 12th grade by the Family Assistance Program at the base in conjunction with the Bob Hope USO of Orange County.

The donation included the backpacks plus paper, pencils and rulers.

Showing off two of the backpacks are RWC President Maggie Paul, left, U.S. Army Sgt. Felix Huezo, RWC Membership Chair Sue Pagett and RWC member Nina Millar, who spearheaded the project.

Earlier in the summer, club board members spent a whirlwind morning bestowing monetary donations on local charities including Casa Youth Shelter, Precious Life Shelter, We Care, St. Isidore Historical Plaza and the Youth Center in Los Alamitos. This was among more than $30,000 the RWC donated to non-profits and to fund student scholarships during the club's 2018-2019 fiscal year.
