They've got brains and talent
The Rossmoor Woman’s Club honored Los Alamitos High School seniors Jacob Young, left, and Kailey Steenhausen as Students of the Month for January and February at the group’s March meeting.
Jacob balances school (where he maintains a weighted 4.0 average), with a part-time job and volunteer coaching for his little brother’s flag football team. At school, he is Vice President of Model United Nations and is involved in ASB, Spanish Honors Society and National Honor Society. Jacob hopes to study biomedical engineering at Stanford University with a long-term goal of making prosthetics and implants for the human body.
Kailey is an avid surfer and swimmer and has been on the surf, water polo and swim teams at Los Al. In addition, she is member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honors Society, California Scholarship Federation, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is a National Merit Commended Scholar, with a 4.46 cumulative academic GPA. She is still deciding where to go to college, considering studying engineering at UC Santa Barbara, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo or Stanford. In her spare time, she tutors middle and high school students.
All the best to these two bright young people!
